I found this newer version of Diner Dash! You have to move faster and you are serving more people. It was great! I love games like this!!
Diner Dash 2
November 19, 2009More Bubble Shooter
November 17, 2009Ok, I’m hooked! I will move on to something new soon, but I am getting pretty good at Bubble Shooter. I think I may even be able to beat it! I will keep trying. If I haven’t beat it in a couple of days I will try something new..
Bubble Shooter
November 12, 2009Ok, so it isn’t the most educational game but it does require some strategy. Everyone at school is playing it…teachers included. It is similar to Bejeweled. You shoot bubbles at similar colored bubbles to eliminate groups of three or more. If you can’t keep the number of bubbles in control and they reach the bottom then you have lost. It is pretty fast paced and it keeps you on your toes!
Professor Fizzwizzle
November 2, 2009This was a neat little strategy game on pogo.com. While it was seemingly pointless, it did succeed in being mind-numbing. You had to maneuver barrells and crates to help the professor get from one tunnell thingy to another. It made you think, but it didn’t have much of a point. I don’t really see any educational value there…
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
October 29, 2009I saw some students playing this yesterday and they were having a blast. I decided to test my useless knowledge. I won’t say exactly how far I made it; I will just say that I am apparently not very knowledgeable when it comes to useless knowledge… Anyway, it was a fun game and it is great for both relaxing and working the mind at the same time!
Belle’s Beauty Salon
October 28, 2009Ok, so I think this game is geared more towards teenage girls, but I wanted to play it because I thought it could work for some of my business classes. Belle is opening a salon and you have to help her run it successfully. You have to give customers the services they request in a timely manner and with satisfactory results to grow the business. I don’t think it is anything that I would use long term in a class, but if I were teaching a lesson on the importance of customer service, or growing a small business, I would let them play this for part of a period because it really does illustrate the necessity of good customer service and smart business decisions.
Donkey Kong
October 25, 2009I haven’t had time to play much in the last couple of weeks, and today I was trying to squeeze in a little family time. We decided to hook the old Super Nintendo up and play some video games. Even my two-year-old likes it! She holds the extra controller and pushes buttons just like she is playing. It is so cute to watch! It was fun to get out something like this. I played Mario a couple of weeks ago but it had been a long time since I got to play Donkey Kong. It was very easy to get back into the swing of things. It was also very relaxing to forget about everything that I needed to be doing and just sit and play for a while. It was great!
Second Life
October 19, 2009I posted about this on Blackboard too, but since this was my main gaming experience for today I thought I should do this too. Second Life was definitely interesting! I was a little weary of it because I saw an episode of CSI or some show like that where there was a murder that was a result of a Second Life relationship. Then I had a character that looked exactly like my character trying to chat and I just thought that was wierd. I have heard some interesting things about Second Life, such as the fact that there is free shopping. I thought that would be fun. I just felt like I wandered around forever and never found anything. If I had more free time I would probably try to explore a little more, but you can tell within a few minutes of being there that it is not meant to be like the games that you can log in and play for a few minutes. I really like those types of games because that is about all of the break I usually get and because I like to play a game to challenge my mind or sometime rest my mind, and I like those to provide instant gratification. It would be very difficult for me to find time to really get involved in something like this, and if I did I would have to be slacking on some other area in my life, which would only put more stress on me to keep up with everything! I defintely think I will stick to my pogo.com games that I love!
Boggle
October 16, 2009I just played a little boggle on pogo.com. I am addicted to that site. I have been under the weather the last week and I barely finished everything else we had to do. I didn’t squeeze in any game time. It was nice to get to play a little something this evening! I had never played Boggle online before. It was a multiplayer game. Each round we had a group goal for the amount of words we were trying to reach. It was fun! Other than the group-player mode, the game was pretty much the same as regular Boggle. I don’t remember who posted it, but I agree with whoever said that it is a pain to put up with all of the adds on Pogo.com if you aren’t a paid member. It is so annoying!!
Crossword Puzzle
October 8, 2009I was looking for games tonight and decided to do a crossword puzzle on pogo.com. I just wanted to do something to keep my mind busy. I have way too much to do at the moment, and I have a cold on top of that. So, I decided that a crossword puzzle would do the trick. I really wanted to play a real game but I needed to do something that wouldn’t get me caught up for too long. I liked this puzzle because it had some really challenging clues and some really easy ones. It also provided hints if you correctly guessed a challenging word. It was a good way to keep my mind busy for a while, but now its time to get back to work…
